Get ready to toast your Flaming Moes to some excellent news.

The Simpsons movie is off the drawing board and in preproduction.

"You know what? We've just done the table read for The Simpsons movie, so although we've been promoting that we're going to do it, now we're actually doing it and are in production," Nancy Cartwright, who gives voice to Bart Simpson, told BBC Radio 1 this week.

Funny, because soon it'll be back on the drawing board. For animation you know...

I think it'll be cool.

rumor had it that they are going to end the television series w/this movie as well. so it's kind of the finale to the simpsons and a farewell to the show.

while i know the show is not NEARLY as good anymore as it was years ago, i still watch every new episode that airs and enjoy them, even if they aren't the best.

this movie however will probably suck, but i'll go see it anyways.

I'd love it if it had a PG-13 rating and an unrated DVD!

I still watch all the eps as well. I usually roll my eyes after each new show but they still have some funny lines in the episodes.

Would have been awesome when people still cared and Conan was still on the writing staff.

Now, it'll be a crime.

The Simpsons is the Gunsmoke of the 21st century.

The new episodes have actually been better than they were a few years ago. I was surprised, I hadn't seen a new episode in about three years (due to work commitments) and recently as I watch them the look and sound of the characters is much closer to what it had been in the best seasons as opposed to seasons 9-12.

i think episodes are funnier now (the crappy seasons) now that i view them in retrospect. Though there are still good simpsons seasons, great simpsons seasons.. then bad ones.
