Simpsons live in Missouri?

yakko

Lifer
On the season premier they mention that they use the area codes 939 and 636. 939 is an unused area codes but 636 is in Missouri.

There is also a Springfield in Missouri. Mystrey solved.

no, 'zona was the NFL team that offered to move to "new springfield" as soon as homer said they could sit back and wait for an nfl team. homer told him to keep walking

Guys, 636 is not Springfield, MO though. Even if it was, is a shelbyville right next door?!

😉

Springfield is a metaphor for the typical american town...quite trying to figure this out! 😛

zippy-I (hope) that we all know that, but part of the fun is trying to guess. Obviously it represents anytown USA, but the writers put in hints about possible locals-and the viewers enjoy guessing

Yeah the name is just saying it is any old town...there is basically a Springfield everywhere.

The other day, I was watching the simpsons (the one with Mr. Burns son), and the train conductor or whatever tries to say what state it is in, but a loud noise covers it up.....

I doubt we will never know for sure...

Silky:
That special was a "spoof" it also said on the counter when Maggie is scanned that the numbers read "NRA4EVER" this is false, as is mostly everything else in that special.

Believe it or not, the simpson's creator hails from Springfield, Oregon. Also, which recently went to the 10 digit dialing in the Portland, Metro area. Springfield had the nuclear power plant as well, and such things as neighbor's names & such [ie.. Flanders], are all street names near where he lived at the time.

Hope this helps, and I speak no lies.

If you still dont believe me, all I can say is, I dont really care what you think. He has a very good friend who went to school & such with him & still keep in contact to this day, And I am good friends that person's son who's 19. They watch the Simpson's religiously.

But seriously, there is a street named Flanders in Springfield, and that's how he got them. But the more interesting story is Moe, Barney & the Tavern....

Where *is* Springfield, anyway?

"Springfield" is a fictional location. Matt Groening says he chose the name because it is one of the most common city names (121 Springfields exist in the U.S.) and the setting of the antithesis to The Simpsons, Father Knows Best. Indeed, from Groening's childhood perspective, that Springfield was "the next town over" from his home in Portland, Oregon.

According to Producer/Director David Silverman, Springfield is in the state of North Takoma, eight miles from Toon Town (although it appears this still isn't to be considered an "official" answer.) In Duffless, the state abbreviation on Homer's driver's license is NT--NT probably representing North Takoma.

The bottom line, though, is that even when the series makes reference to places and events unique to a specific Springfield, it does not mean that the series takes place in that given state.

According to some sources on the group, Matt Groening has said that although Springfield is basically "anytown USA" it does have features somewhat similar to towns in Oregon, where Matt grew up.

Read Where Is Springfield if you're still not convinced.

Maybe he was referring to a cell phone or a phone homer is using to forward his calls from??? He is a clever dude and I can't picture him paying a phone bill. Probably Flander'ses mother's phone he is using 😀

Can we say, fanboys????

Doug: In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib twice in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is some sort of a [the three nerds chuckle]magic xylophone or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

June: Uh, well, uh...

Homer: I'll field that one. Let me ask you a question. Why would a man whose shirt says "Genius at Work" spend all of his time watching a children's cartoon show?

Doug: [embarrassed pause] I withdraw my question. [starts eating a candy bar]

It even said it in one the "Behind the Music" type episode - it said they were from MI, but it doesn't say that's where 'their' Springfield is... so I really dunno
