Simpsons episode w/ deleted scene (spring break, grammar rodeo)

Does anyone know why they cut out the scene with the hitchhiker? It's during the part while they're driving on the road, and they're like;

Them: "Bart can we pick up that hitchhiker"
Bart: "I don't see why not"

(picks up hitchhiker)
(hitchhiker sitting in the middle)

hitchhiker: "Bart can we get some ice cream?"
Bart: "I don't see why not"

Then they're eating ice cream. Does anyone remember this scene. it's on tv right now (at least in VA).

Syndicated episodes have more commercials than when they are first run on Fox. Therefore, just about every Simpsons episode you see in syndication has one or more scenes cut out of them.
