Isn't Family Guy already coming back? Or was it Futurama? I read a couple weeks ago that some cartoon type show was coming back because of all the requests and how well the DVDs were selling. Don't remember which one though.

Why would Fox cancel the Simpsons when it is still a major cash cow for them. One of the most successful shows in TV history.

CNBC just reported it as well.

Honestly, for being part of one of the longest running television shows, I feel they should be making more than $125k per episode (even if they're doing just voice talent)

While they're at it, they should hire some new writers too.

whoa, there was a quip about the Simpsons being on "hold", on Fox News just now on Fox 32 here in chicago! Could this be true?? Nancy Cartwright about an hour ago here at NIU, said she had no idea about the strike, when she had a Q&A session....

Ok, they just went with a reference to Variety magazine... basically saying the same thing the OP's links say... grr... If it is an April Fools joke, they're taking their sweet little time to disclose it!
