Simplified SETI FAQ?

Does anyone have a link to a really simplified FAQ? As if offering to pay for the extra power used by leaving the computer on 24/7 didn't justify my leaving it on, my father's all like "What does it need to be on for?" So I just want something to throw at him to that's easy enough for him to understand as computers really aren't his thing. I saw one earlier that explained SETI really good, but I can't seem to find the link anymore 😱

I also wonder how much the electric bill will go up from the computer being on about 8hrs/day -> 24hrs :Q

Hmm.. well it costs me £6 per month to run one computer 24/7.

A ballpark figure may be around $10 a month? Something like that.. That could be way off though - ask one of the US guys 🙂

Also, depending on your electricity rates...you should expect from $5 to 10 more per month total...probably closer to the $5...especially in Winter! 🙂

Excellent, that should be fine then 🙂 Thanks for the link as well. I'm going to check it out and see if I can find something to throw at him 😉

Throw a sock at him 😉

Really, it is actually better to leave a comp. on 24/7................ the heating up and cooling down is worse on electrical parts than a constant temp.

This is the reason that the first light bulb is still burning and your Dad has replaced many bulbs in his house.

I know as I do this myself.....replace light bulbs that is ..........computers I replace because I need faster, better, faster.... or so I tell the wife 🙂
