Having some issues. I have a SimpleNET NAS adaptor. It's a little box with a power plug, an ethernet jack, and two USB2.0 ports.

You plug in an external/portable USB HD, and it converts it to a Windows-compatible NAS.

Unfortunately, I must have put a password on it some time ago, which I no longer remember.

I've tried a 30/30/30 reset, but it seems to forget the IP configuration (defaults back to DHCP instead of static IP), and then prompts me for a password.

I seem to recall initially, that it didn't prompt for any sort of password.

So why is the reset not resetting the password? Seems pretty brain-dead that a device like this would not reset the password when pushing RESET, like a router would, and lock-out a physical user.

Or do I need a default password? I cannot find any documentation on Hitachi's site, even with a search. They don't even want to admit that this product ever existed.

Edit: I solved it. Default password seems to be "admin" / "admin".

Edit: Now I cannot get the "Devices" menu on the webmin page to recognize the Seagate Expansion 750GB external portable USB3.0 HD. I have a Toshiba Canvio 1TB USB3.0 HD plugged in as well, and it does recognize that one.

Edit: Not a power issue, that I can see. Unplugged the Toshiba HD, and plugged the Seagate in the same port. Lights up, then after a little bit of time, light starts blinking off, like it is getting accessed. But no HD shows up in the config menus on the SimpleNET.

Edit: Hmm, connected Seagate to PC, deleted volume, created new simple volume, named it, still no dice. So I tried creating a folder "TEST" on the HD, and now it's detected. I guess if it doesn't have any files on it, it doesn't detect the disk.
