Simple wiring question (RCA plugs)

I have some surround sound speakers with an RCA plug on the end. I also have a new receiver that requires speakers to be plugged in with +/- wires separately. If I cut the RCA plug off the end of the speakers, which wire is + and which is -? (ie, is the center prong + and the outside -, or vice versa?)

Thanks guys!
Happy holidays!

use a simple AA or 9v battery. Pull the speaker cover off the speaker, touch the wires to you have to each terminal of the battery and watch the cone. If the woofer cone moves outward when you touch, make note of the polarity of wire you touched to the battery. Now you know...
