Simple surveillance for ones room?

friend of mine suspects that someone is entering her room and taking things. Her room is not that secure (window and door are easily bypassed) and wants to do something temporarily just to see what happens. Is there a simple webcam type thing that they can use for the time being that's simple to setup?

would 12+ hour a day recording use up an insane amount of disk space?

Creative Lab webcams have that feature too, snaps a pic when it detects movements, it's all controlled by software

don't use video, just take a snapshop/still every 15 seconds, keep the resolution fairly low , like 640x480

I saw a cool hidden camera (in a clock) that uses a memory card to record. It's motion activated and connects to a PC using a USB connector. You can put a larger memory card in if you need it.

It would be funny if it made that click sound that cell phone cameras make when you're trying to be discreet..
