Simple suggestion, I think

How about an "auto refresh" option that can be changed in one's customized settings? It could be "off", "1 min", "10 min", and so on, using that one oddball header tag for a refresh timer? Seems like it would be easy to implement, and it would at least save ME a lot of mouse clicks. 🙂

probably not a good idea,

sure it would be convienient, but most of the poeple here have constant internet connections, and they would read a post and go fall asleep or somthing, and thier browser just sits there and refreshes all night, multiply that by a few hundred (or thousand) users, and you have a problem. I think the server is under enough stress as it is.

Besides that, most advertisers will not buy exposures on a site that has auto-refresh tags.

Well, yea, that's the idea. It would be disabled for everyone by default, and if they want to turn it on, they can pick a few different times, 30sec, 1min, 5min... blah blah blah.

Why don't you just go get a duck thingly that bobs up and down with the water in its stomach. Position its beak above F5 and you have auto refresh every 4 seconds.

Those aren't ducks! 🙂 They're "birds"! Forget it, if someone can just hook me up with Internet Explorer's API, I can bang out a little utility. A little help?
