Simple startup issue

I'm guessing it's Vista because he has a standard user account and not many do on XP. In that case run netplwiz. Pretty simple once it is opened.

is it on a domain?
If not, then you should have a startup screen. click on your name. If you dont, go into the administrators acct and right click on my computer and click manage. Add a user, with a password if you like, then log off as administrator and log in as yourself.

Ok, I'm not very good with computer terms here. What is a 'domain' if you guys don't mind explaining.

I have a user login screen with a view of my user name in a box with a little avatar. If it's relevant, sometimes when I log off of the administrator account, which the computer boots up with, I see the administrator as a login choice on the screen with my other user name boxed-avatar choice. I believe that is the startup screen, if so, than I do not have a domain as you have explained.

Going off of the 'startup' screen, I click on my name and log in. Since I can get in the user account, I don't need to fiddle with the 'manage' option in My Computer. I am sorry but I am lost in translation here. If I still can't log onto my account, as you are examplifying, I would need to make a whole new account, and than log off of the account I made the user on (Admin in this case). Than that method would allow me to log into my user account when the computer starts, without me doing a thing?

Thanks
