So say I buy a 128GB ssd for a new build.

I install windows on the SSD, but what else? Do all my drivers/utilities go on the ssd as well?

I plan on installing games/music/data on the hard drive. But what else should go on the ssd?

Any reccomendations from people who have an ssd?

Thanks

all drivers and utilities should go on the ssd, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose. you would still be limited by your HDD.

put your most frequently used programs on the ssd as well.

Your OS, drivers, utilities, all applications, games and a sub-set of your data should go on the SSD.

It's difficult to say how many games or applications as different people use different things, but really you want on the SSD everything you use often otherwise as said above, you won't receive the benefit.

I personally have everything on my SSD apart from:

music collection
movie collection
software collection
PC images collection

If this is your first SSD, there are also some tweaks you need to do to ensure you get the best experience. These generally are:

Install OS with BIOS in AHCI mode
ensure partition is alligned. Windows 7 will do this automatically
disable defrag
disable prefetch
disable superfetch
disable hibernation (not a requirement but a good recommendation)
disable indexing (SSDs search so fast i see little point to this now)

Think thats it..
