Simple solution to the napster problem?!

They could just move their servers to Mexico or China or something.. and change their name. to rapster, kickster..whatever. Then the US gov't or the records industry won't be able to do sh!t to em? no?

that is actually true, they can alway sell their company for one dollar to some caribbean islander and move headquarters. but alas, i doubt theyll do that.

I'm confused as to what the Napster server is....when you download mp3's it's from other users, so how does a Napster server come into play?

Napster servers keep an index of all the songs every user has on the service. When you do a search, it searches your server for the song that you want. Then when you download, that server also has a field that would link the song title to an IP address of another use who you would download it from.

no need. there are hundreds of free servers (opennap, etc.) you can use any client to connect to them.
