this is probably an easy and stupid question.
i have a ball bearing fan/heatsink on my 1GHz Athlon. Should the fan be on at all time or can i set it to turn on and off? it's kinda noisy so i was just curious
 
It should always be on, unless you want your Athlon to burn up 🙂. If you want to quiet the fan, you can try to get a 60mm to 80mm adapter so you can put on a bigger fan that will be quieter. (Same CFM and less RPM's=Less noise and same performance) You can buy those here.
