I'm ready to get rid of and old 19"crt, moire pattern has developed and there is no osd adjustment for it. Will donate it to a local school.

been looking around for a 22"lcd, and narrowed it down to the HPw2207 and the samsung226bw. I've read the reviews and the forums. According to PRAD.de the HP is 6bit and the samsung is 8 bit, but they seem to both be TN panels. Forums indicate that the 226bw is 6bit+frc and that samsung just calls it 8bit.

Anybody know for certain?

I have the 226bw, but I do not know for sure. It is definitely an outstanding monitor though, TN or not.

take a good hard look at the Acer AL2051W . It's a true 8 bit panel. I use mine for gaming and browsing, and I see no ghosting. It's a glossy screen, but I dont have any issue with reflections, and the colors are great. 2 inches less size, but same 1680x1050 resolution so it will be a bit sharper.

I can't handle color banding, so I definately wanted an 8 bit panel. Banding is a big reason I'm trying my hardest to skip lcd and plasma tv's. I'm praying something will come along with the same range as my RP and direct CRT HD tv's have, but the accuracy of digital(lcd/plasma). here hoping for sed and oled...
