Simple question for those who use a ViewSonic VA1912wb...

I have a simple question for ViewSonic VA1912wb users...What is the maximum resolution that you can use with this monitor ? 1400x900 or 1440x900 ??

The reason I am asking this is because, with the latest nVidia drivers, I get a max resolution of 1440x900, while with the older nVidia drivers, I am damn sure I got 1400x900....

The problem with the 1440x900 is that in Windows XP, the desktop takes more area than that that can be displayed, that is, I have to drag the mouse to one corner of the screen, to 'shift' the display to one side, to see the remaining portion of the screen...

So whats the max. resolution that you get ? 1400x900 or 1440x900 ?

The max is 1400x900. Obviously if the resolution isn't within the monitors viewing range then that isn't the right resolution. If you go into your display properties, Settings Tab, Advanced Button then you should find a check box that basicly say show only supported settings. This will block out any unsupported resolutions. Right now you are forcing the monitor to display a higher resolution. So its doing what it can to support that.

hmm....i lotta people are saying its 1440x900....guess I must have been seeing things then :S...

anyways...next question:

I figured out that the problem mentioned in the first post (the complete desktop doesnt fit in one complete view - I have to move the mouse to the boundaries of the display area, to see the portion that was cut off) only occurs for me if I use the latest nVidia Forceware drivers for windows XP (v162.18)...I tried the slightly older drivers (v93.71) on a clean install of Windows XP, and they worked fine

So how about it ? Do you (VA1912wb user) experience the above mentioned problem when using these latest nVidia drivers ? If not, please tell me which card are you using (I am using eVGA 7900GT CO by the way)..

I have a VA1912wb and its a really great monitor. However I'm using the 94.xx (maybe 97?) I dont know exactly for sure because I'm at college right now. I use an old GeForce 4 MX420 so I'm using the last supporting drivers. I never had a problem with the monitor in reference to resolution. You installed the drivers for the monitor correct? Dumb question I know, just checking.
