Not miracles like the US beating the Soviets or the birth of your first child. I mean miracles like a river parting, god talking to average people, healing the sick etc. They never happen any more (except for the occasional jesus toast)

It's almost like ever since science and education came around god stopped showing up on our little planet. Does god hate science and education and is so disgusted that he refuses to come back?

maybe because those 'miracles' are simply exagerated stories, some of fiction altogether, and some of a minor truthful detail? thats my belief at least. there will always be miracles, but a miracle doesn't have to have roots in diety beliefs.

Notice all of those miracles were in the Old Testament, while everything in the New Testament was directly related to Jesus, or John the Baptist, or a specific person, rather than a large group of people. Miracles still happen, they're just not as wide-scope, since after the Old Testament God apparantly decided to sit back and let us run/ruin things on our own.

Well... I know it may sound tough... but... these stories are all... how to put it... fantasy tales. Miracles never happened. People need someting to grasp on to when they realize there is no real meaning or purpose to their life. I, for example, don't believe in any of these folklores, but I do read a lot of scienence fiction books that is comparable to religious belief. Only those who are completely free from all forms of daydreaming can say that they are living a perfectly sober and objective life. Not sure if that could be very happy though.

No miracles for today.

One of my cousin is a long time gang member in Toronto and a long time drug abuser, I called it a miracle when he accepted Jesus and totally changed.
Also, how Israel came into being a nation is a miracle.

In regards to god talking to people:

When you talk to God it's prayer, when God talks to you it's schizophrenia

That really wasn't a miracle

Edit: For clarification, it was somewhat close to hitting us (about the moon's orbital radius), but it wasn't anywhere near large enough to destroy the Earth.

Wasn't the point of the thread to provide examples? You'll need much more than a single sentence fragment if you hope to convince ATOT of the existence of God.

This board is overhwelmingly atheist and agnostic.

I witnessed one.

A friend of mine who was in his early thirties was hospitalized for abdominal pain. Days of tests later, they diagnosed him with a rare disease called Gardner syndrome. His abdomen was full of tumors (called desmoid tumors) and his prognosis was grim. They didn't think they could successfully remove all the tumors because they had intertwined with all the normal tissue. And the tumors have a 100% chance of becoming malignant if not removed. They decided to operate in a couple of weeks and hope for the best, as doing nothing was certain death.

The morning of the operation they took additional Xrays to have an updated picture of where the tumors were. And the tumors were gone. All of them. The doctors themselves said there was no other explanation.

I really believe there are miracles going on around us all the time, if we'd only take notice.

I think that is a profound statement. When all hope is gone, when the sky is darkest, and you are at your lowest point because there is no way the noutcome can change, that is when the miracles happen. The cancer patient...The automobile accident victim...things like these happen everyday. Sometimesour lives are so busy we fail to see the obvious right in front of us.

Not the best example, but Rothlisberger is a good example--by all rights his motorcycle accident should have been fatal. I believe it truly is a miracle that he survived. Perhaps God has a plan to use him in some way...a way that you and I may never know. But, it just might be possible that the accident he was in prevented the driver in the car from hitting a school bus full of kids a few miles down the road...you never know.

Miracles happen, but we may not know it when they do. The grand scale miracles like parting the sea, etc...I don't know. I can't answer why they don't happen any more.

Why should we waste our time trying to convince you. When judgement day comes you'll have to answer to the lord, and you alone.

I cannot prove the existence of God or the existence of miracles. The people on these forums that do not believe in God will have their own version of what the miracles were.

Miracles happen all the time - people just don't see them, or refuse to see them.
