I want to upgrade my old PC and I am going to buy an AM2+ mobo and some are DDR2 1066 and some are only DDR2 800, what is the supported RAM speed for the AMD X2 processors? I thought it had to match the RAM. Are they all at 800MHz or are some 800 and others 1066?

I checked wikipedia but they no longer have it on the processors after the first few product lines.

The old AMD dual-cores support up to 800MHz by default. The new dual-cores based on K10 (ie. X2 7750) might support 1066.

Not to be a jerk, but this information could have been procured from an inumerable amount of sources. Heck, even newegg would tell you this. I suspect this is why nobody has replied.

But anyway, All athlon x2's of the AM2 variety will offically run DDR2 800 max. Anything over that is considered overclocking. There is an Athlon x2 7750 that I assume will run 1066 because it is based on the Phenom, however it is also a AM2+ part.

I could not find it and I see everyone flamed for being "lazy" but I went to Newegg specifications and wikipedia list of CPU's and neither answered this question. It can be hard to find the information online and if you don't keep up with sites like this, Tom's or others then the information is hard to find.

Perhaps I should have requested links to the info so i can empower myself and not just look for a handout.

I'll be nice and answer it.

Athlon X2 3600-6400(K8) AM2 processors support DDRII 800
Athlon X2 7X50 series(K10) AM2+ processors support DDRII 1066
Phenom II X2 5XX series(K10)AM3 processors support DDRII 1066 or DDRIII
Athlon X2 2XX series(K10)AM3 processors support DDRII 1066 or DDRIII
