If I cancel my phone number with Verizon does my DSL service get cancelled also? I don't have DSL with verizon but I am wondering if getting rid of the phone line makes it impossible to receive DSL. Thanks.

Call Verizon and ask them, short of someone here working for Verizon you won't be able to get a solid 100% accurate answer.

Just so you know, you Can get DSL without phone service .. See below:

It is called Naked DSL Service .. the only time Verizon Can Not give this to you
is if your dial tone is not on Copper Wires from the Central Office to your home.
Since you are in Maine, it is almost 100% certain you are on a copper line.
Basically if you have DSL now, you can get Naked DSL as it will run on the same
copper pair of wires from your home back to the central office. All Verizon has to do
is Turn Off the Dial Tone and remove the wire to the dial tone office. Then billing has
to adjust the records so all you get billed for is Internet Service.

Yeah, I've heard of dry loop dsl, but I don't get DSL through Verizon, I get it through someone else. Only my phone line is through Verizon. I would probably need to contact my ISP. Thanks.

If you get DSL from another company over a Verizon Dial tone, then things get a bit more involved.
You either need to get the DSL from Verizon and turn off the dial tone, or if you stay with your existing
ISP you may need to pay a Fee to Verizon per month to rent the Cable Pair to your home. That fee is
normally part of your regular telephone service and may be higher when rented to a competitor company.
