So when I re-installed Windoze, I noticed that after visiting a web site, MSIE would cache the pics and load them from temp files the next time they were called up. This was evidenced by watching the fish swim across the screen at www.slagoon.com. It was painfully slow the first time, but went full speed for some months after that. Recently, though, it has started dragging again, as if having to download the whole thing every time it revisits the page.
As there are only about a half dozen sites I frequently visit, my browsing experience goes a lot smoother when images can be pulled from cache rather than downloaded over my sorry excuse for a connection. Problem is, I don't know how to get them to work that way again, short of wiping the drive and starting over. I've tried using what I think is a big cache for temp files (1GB), tried clearing the cache and history, looked at different settings for the way Internet Explorer handles cached pages, and don't know what else to do.
I'm sure someone knows how to get things running the way I like them. Care to enlighten me?
BTW, I'm running MSIE v6.0 w/128-bit encryption over Win98SE, no plug-ins (that I'm aware of), and usually have ICQ2000b running at the same time.
