simple Q: monitor ---> footprint?

I never got around to finding out what people meant when thye were talking about a monitors "footprint".

Were they refering to the size of the rotating pod beneath the unit? Or the size of the monitor unit itself?

Usually it's the size of the monitor itself. I.E. I have a 21" CRT, it's 19" deep. If I had an LCD then it'd be no more than 5" deep. The footprint of my monitor is rather large, 19"x19" or 361 square inches.
