<< should have temp choises for about 42 on up.... >>

Yeah I agree because I can't even vote.;)

should also have other options, the most important being:

Ambient system temp (as person wtih 20C case temp can't compare temps with someone with 35C ambient case temp).
Motherboard /Bios/Program for measuring temps
Program used to "load" the CPU.

Without at least hte ambient test, the "poll" is bunk. Even with ambient temp, it doesn't take into account how every motherboard reads temps differently.

It's a SIMPLE poll, mikewarrior. I didn't feel like adding everyvariable under the sun! If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to vote!
And you can always make your own poll!

and your poll will lead to misleading results. As for such reasons as stated above.

Polls like this are the reason for threads like these:

"HOT HOT HOT!!" I'm running at 48C
"CPU Temp is too high" I'm running 45C
"Why don't I run at 38C like everyone else"

etc.

ooh, i'm so hurt.

I'm sorry, but when something is inherently wrong (ie a poll like this), I wll post why its wrong.

Mike - This is, and I'm quoting, a "simple poll".

My Althlon XP 1700+'s temp ranges from 57~66C (it's currenly at 57C cos the case is off, and the room temp is quite low). Even at 66C it's quite stable, so I'm not too worried about the temp. :)

Simple or not, if you're gonna do something, do it right.

I guess I have to give yet another sample of why Temp "polls" do not work.

User 1: Iwill KK266-R. Xp1700+. Volcano 7 Cooler. Case temp: 22C. CPU "temp": 30C

User 2: Abit KR7. Xp1700+. Volcano 7 Cooler. Case temp: 28C. CPU "temp": 46C

User 3: Asus A7V333. XP1700+. Volcano 7 Cooler. Case temp: 35C. CPU "temp": 55C

Without knowing the specifics behind the poll answers, you're looking at CPU Temps of 30,46, and 55C. 25C of temperature difference. All with the same setup, save different case temps.

Now let's take case temps out of the equation: Temperature Delta's of 8C, 18C, and 20C. Again, all on teh same setup.

Yes, this is hypothetical, but is completely probably given the above stated motherboards and their "norm" temps. Different motherboards read temps sooo differently, that its impossible to cross compare them. Add in various other factors, such as ambient system temp, and a temp survey is completely wrong.

I have an Athlon XP 1900 overclocked too 1700mhz and my hottest CPU temp after hours of Prime95 is 44.50c, with a Thermalright AX-7 and a YS-Tech 80mm 48.5cfm fan. My case temp only gets as hot as 23c due to my 108cfm airflow from two 120mm Sunons. Loud and cool.

I have an XP 1700+ and I use watercooling so I might be in the minority.

At any rate, if I run at stock speed and voltage, my load temps are about 36.

Right now, I am pumping 2.06 Volts and running at 1750 MHz (XP 2100+), and it gets up to 42 or so at load.

I use MBM5 for checking voltage and temps, etc. My case temp, according to MBM5, is 23.

Mikewarrior2 is right about how worng those numbers are compared between different setups, but seems like no one cares. I don't have AXP but my K6-2+/450@616Mhz used to run at 28-29C under load with iron heatsink.. ;)

Comparing temps will only work once everyone uses the thermal diode. My asus board says 52C, but there is no way its that hot. The board itself is 22C

At 20 degrees C full load is around 42 degrees.. XP1800+

and that`s with a Globalwin FOP38 with the delta removed and replaced with a slower YS-Tech - The Lian-Li case is doing all the work there I think.......... Can`t wait to get an AX-7 on the thing!, even quieter

That's lesser than mine ;) My gigabyte 7ZMMH shows me 54C for my AXP1600+, but that's just the way the temps are measured. IMHO gigabyte and asus boards report higher temps.
