Simple one... Keep EVGA 7950 GT 512 MB or 8600 GTS 256 MB?

I got a new dell that came with the 8600 GTS but have an EVGA 7950 GT. Which do you think I should keep?

Thanks

Depends on what type of games you play. For most titles, definately the 7950, which is probably overlclocked, no?

For UT-2007 and possibly other Unreal3 based titles, it looks like the 8600 might be faster.

As stated above, the GTS would probably be faster in games like Unreal 3. If you even play the game. But in all DX9 games, the GT should take the roost.

Why not just try out both cards in your machine, and then choose which you prefer the most ? That is what I would do :)

the place is full of these threads... same answer in every one...

Keep your current card... wait for the 8800GT it MIGHT make it a worthwhile UPGRADE... until then anything short of an 8800 is a downgrade from your 7900 OC

I'd keep the 7590 GT. It's better to have one of the last generation's best card's than one of the current generation's low-range cards.

They call it mainstream. On newer games it gives 7950gt run for it's money.

It's all about Stream Processors with right amount of fillrate and memory bandwidth with current games.

7950gt is all about fillrate and bandwidth but lacking in the shader operations per second.

Back when games were all about fillrate and bandwidth 7950gt does good but newer games even 7900gtx has a hard time beating 1950pro with 36 pixel shader which outputs more shader operations per second.

Yeah, incoming games now are using quite a lot of shaders and the 7900GTX is just trailing behind in games like UT3, Clive Barker's Jericho etc against the X1950PRO. In current games the 7950GT will simply crush the 8600GTS, but in newer games they would trade blows. When the X1900 series was released, they ran most of the time as fast as the 7900GTX, but now if you compare them with those next generation games that came from 2005 (F.E.A.R.) and above (Bioshock, UT3 etc), the gap is widening fast. The same thing will happen with the 8600GTS.
