I got myself some OCZ PC3500 EB because I was hearing all the great things about it and I was interested in hitting high RAM speeds without having to shove loads of voltage into the BH5.
This is just a simple test in SiSoft Sandra for unbuffered memory bandwidth.
Test setup as follows:
Athlon64 3200+ (10 x 220) :: 2.2GHz; 1.525v
Asus K8V Deluxe BIOS 01/15/2004
OCZ PC3500 Platinum Limited Edition (BH5) 2 x 256mb
OCZ PC3500 Platinum Enhanced Bandwidth (EB) 2 x 256mb
Timings are setup (CAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS); Scores are setup (Int ALU/Float FPU)
BH5 (2-2-2-5): 2074/2076 | Screenshot
EB (2.5-2-2-5): 2065/2072 | Screenshot
EB (2.5-3-2-5): 2034/2055 | Screenshot
This test was done on my friends A64 system. Special thanks to chr6 for letting me use his system for testing. My system is currently down for case wire cleansing (gotta have that nice air flow).
Don't take too much away from this. If anything, you can see that OCZ EB is definitely good stuff (not like Wesley Fink didn't already conclude this). At higher DDR speeds, it should definitely pull away from BH5. The CPU used in the test does not allow me to overclock much higher, so I won't be able to illustrate the aformentioned point.
