simple OC question about ram

if I get a mobo that says it supports pc3200 ram, would it be a good idea to get pc3500 ram rather than the pc3200? my thinking here is that if I'm going to be OCing, I don't want the pc3200 holding me back and that the pc3500 would be able to handle the OC since its used to running at that speed normally...I'm kinda new to this and wasn't sure if this was the case. thnx

I would instead invest in some exceptionally good PC3200 instead. If you have PC3200 that can run at CL2 speeds at 400Mhz, you are likely to be better able to OC it than some low end CL2.5 that claims 3500 or 3700 speeds. I have some OCZ Performance Series Rev 2 PC3200, purchased from Hardcorecooling.com, and I've been able to boot with it POSTing at 494Mhz - though Winblows does not run at that speed, of course.

yeah, invest in good PC3200 that runs at CAS2 instead, this way you still have plenty of headroom for OCing, i have PC3500 CAS2, GeIL ultra platinum series. runs great, tho i need a better CPU to make use of the added FSB =)
