Hi all,

I have a pretty straight forward question.
I have a epox 8kda3+ motherboard with amd 64 3200+ athlon 64 512krtl
and
2 sticks of mushkin ddram 512 pc-3200.

There is one open slot on board and i want to add more memory (about 1 gig more maybe).

Do I buy one stick more? will this slow things down? and do I need to match the sticks to size or something?
Or
Do i replace the 2 512's and get larger sticks?

If so what does speeds matter when I'm buying additional RAM.

THanks,

According to your motherboard makers site:
http://www.epox.com/USA/product.asp?id=EP-8KDA3plus

You have the option to install 3 x DDR SDRAM PC2100/2700/3200, 3GB max.

As it has only three slots, I would assume that the board does not support dual channel memory so you probably don't need to worry about pairing up two or four memory modules. You could purchase 3x1gb PC3200's and that would be the best your board can do. If you are going to add to your current ram, you will want to make sure that it is the same speed (PC3200). If you purchase slower or faster ram, it will operate at the lowest common denominator, so if you mix PC3200 with PC2700, the system will operate at PC2700.

If you read the thread I have just posted in this forum, you will see that I have a problem after having purchased some DDR so have a read of that and you might get a better sense of what you want to do.
