simple little program to re-index AVI movies so u can watch partially downloaded files?

with all these f*ckheads on file sharing programs renaming files to something that they are not, I find sometimes I have to download 4 or 5 different files before finding the right one.. with MPEG you can view the partially downloaded file and cancel the transfer when u find out its not what u thought it was.. or u can check the video quality without having to download 700 freaking megs

someone was telling me about a program that will re-index a partial avi file so u can view it... anyone know of such a program? preferably something small, free and simple with no install, just unzip and run the .exe...
