Simple HDD IDE Channel Question

Currently I've got:

IDE0: IBM 60gig Master, Maxtor 60gig slave
IDE1: Toshiba DVD-RW

Would I be better off with the two hard drives on seperate IDE channels?

From what I understand, if you do sharing between two devices, it is better to have them on seperate channels.
