I have a 160GB SATA HD as SATA1 and I added a new 300GB SATA HD as a logical drive for storage in SATA2. When I boot it hangs before windows loads unless I unplug the 300GB HD. Doing so it boots the OS fine from the 160GB. What am I missing?

Check your BIOS to make sure the 300GB SATA is not in the boot sequence. Sounds like it is going there first and looking for boot files - finding none it then moves on to the 160.

?Hangs? ? meaning displays no bootable drive found? Or simply cannot find HDDs?

If earlier ? fix yer boot.ini to show correct boot device/partition

If later maybe PSU problems (unlikely) or your mobo (i get it has only 2 SATA ports - separate controller, some limitations possible on the old models)

Clarify.

Oh yes, Corky's thing is the first to check - you may have put new HDD to a higher channel and boot priority has changed automatically.
