In Firefox, how can I make it so when I click a link (say I click on a thread), i make it open in a new tab automatically instead of redirecting the site im on to that thread?

Is there an extension or am i just missing something completely (which is always a possibility)?

The easiest way to do it, is to hold down the ctrl key when you click the link. If you click the link with the scroll wheel, it will also open the link in a new tab. If you just want it to jump to a new tab when you click without any extra keys or the scroll wheel, you'll need to install the Tabbrowser Extension. It's under Use Tab -> Links in the options.

I think there's an option you have to click for the middle button to work. I'm not sure why they cripple it like that.

I've never had to change any options for that to happen. It's always done that by default, on all of the installs of Firefox I've done (on many machines).

Well clicking the middle button causes the page to scroll down automatically, which i like and wanna keep. I just want every link i click to open a new tab instead of in the same browser window or in a new one.

Right. That's also automatic. If you middle click on a non-link, then the mouse pointer becomes a scroll pointer. If you middle click on a link, a new tab should open.... or at least that's what it's always done for me. :-\

Thats not what it does for me. Whether on a link or not, it just scrolls, which is fine by me. All i want is to be able to click a link, and have it open in a tab on the same window. Dont want it opening a new window, and i dont want it redirecting the site im on to the site i click.

Hrmmm... try the tabbrowser extension... or have you already?
