I followed this guide (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_filesharing/whole.htm) to try to set up some file shares. However, it only covers what to do on one machine apparantly. I never get prompted for a user name and password when I attempt to connect to the folders I limit access to and have created permissions for. I've quadruple checked the permission settings.
The biggest two things that are confusing me: why am I not getting a login/pass prompt on the limited access files I made on Monolith (the host) when I try to access them with Stubby (the client). I just get an access denied when I double click the folder icon in Stubby.
I'm also confused on the naming requirements. Both of my computers have the same exact user name and password but couldn't access the folder. I tried changing them to Monolith and Stubby, gave them new passwords respectively, added them to the permissions and still no go. I've tried setting permissions for both group and user, but I get no password prompt when I try to access the folder. Just the denied message.
I've switched both the computers back to the same name and password, but am scratching my head as to what is wrong.
Simple file sharing is disabled on both machines.
