Greetings,
For a month or so now my brother and I have used a regular old hub to share the cable internet between our two computers (my ISP allows multiple IPs). We both used win2k all this time except for just a day or two ago and we both are running winXP now. I'm not totally versed in XP yet, but all we had to do in win2k was install NetBEUI, have the same workgroup, and right-click>sharing... and setup the shared drive(s) in windows explorer and we were able to view each others computers through My Network Places.
However, in winxp there is no NetBEUI protocol to install (thats what my bro has said anyway)... And we both did like as in 2k and set up the shared drives through windows explorer (in spite of XP telling me not to since it ain't secure this way) and although they are showing as shared to ourselves, we aren't able to view each others computers over the network places now! How can I set it up simply like in 2k? Do I still need to use NetBEUI for this? I thought XP was able to automatically find connected computers/drivers over the network...
