i have cell B3 (Starting interest) with 6.00% and cell B4 (Increment) with 1.00% and i need every cell in column A9-A20 to start at B3 and increase by B4
so A9 would be 6.00%, A10 would be 7.00%, etc... how would this be done?

ok, just did that and when i drag down cell A10, it just fills the rest of the cells with 7.00%
if i highlight both cell A9 and A10, it repeats 6.00% and 7.00%...

move your mouse over that till teh curser becomes a + then click and drag down

i think it would be
=$B$3+$B$4 for cell A9

but then

=A9+$B$4 for cell A10

then drag formula out through cell A20

funny because i am sitting in a excel class, replying to this

i agree with yamahaxs, that is the way, the $ is nec. because it makes it absolute and doesn't change, but the vertical cell needs to change.

yea thats correct i fed mine up but i knew what i ment

but he wants cell A9 to be 6% so it should just be

=$B$3

then A10 should be $A$9+$b$4

right, except that

A10 should be A9 + $B$4

So that when you autofill the column, the A9 will change to add the B4 to the running total. If you use A9, then each cell will be 7%
