I need a simple Android video editor that will let me stitch a few videos together, fast-forward some parts (to skip past without cutting out), and either dub or caption parts. Anyone know something that fits the bill?

LOL! Tried the "Edit" function on Samsung's video player on my Note 3 and found that it's laughably bad! It can stitch more than one video together, which is more than iMovie for iPhone could do when I last tried it, but it automatically applies a transition effect with no way to have a hard cut (no transition effect). What's more, when you split a video it forces a transition effect too! Transition from itself to itself?! Come on! I know it's capable of doing a hard cut but there is no option except auto-edit (set a target time and it tries to edit the video down for you). I picked "Advanced" and yet there is practicall no other option than having it do everything for me with Auto-Edit! I guess I can split and delete/reorder clips with forced transitions. :rolleyes: There is no way to set playback speed for a clip.

SAMSUNG = FAIL

What's next?

It's like you expected built in phone software to somehow mimic adobe premier or something.

Thanks. I'll check it out.
It's like you expected built in phone software to somehow mimic adobe premier or something.
First of all, though the "Edit" menu option was there in the stock Samsung video player, it took me to Samsung's app store to download a 130MB app. It wasn't "built in."

Second, why would I need Adobe Premier to NOT have a transition effect?! I DON'T want some fancy wipe or fade. I know the software is capable of it because Auto Edit does that. I DON'T want "Auto Edit" either.

What kind of designer makes a bunch of fancy transitions and forgets the most basic transition (none/hard cut)? A lazy one who just doesn't care. That's who. His/her boss told him/her to add transition options and that'a what he/she did.

Third, being "built in" is no excuse for missing basic/obvious functionality, especially for marque functions.

For example, a Galaxy Note 3 should be a damned-fine note taking and markup device. Instead, there is no easy way to just open a notes app and dump your clipboard. You have to handwrite or create a new notebook name and pick a style and color. By that time, you are no longer doing what you were doing when you needed to jot something down, you're knee-deep in some completely different app. At least screenshots allow you to jot down relevant notes and save them without jumping through hoops, but there is no automatic contrasting color or border for your lines! It's often useless.
