Simple adsl setup question

I recently did a Norton Ghost restore of my system and now my adsl connection is really sticky ie anything I click on over the net pauses for a few seconds before opening.
I remember that after I did my Norton backup a few months ago, I found a tip that showed me something about adjusting packet size, or maybe frame size in network settings that fixed the problem.
Does anyone know what setting this might be, and what I could try setting it to?
