simple ? about adding more storage

pretty happy with the rig but want to add another HD ...... after installing it what needs to be done for winXP to recognize it ? ..... thanx for advance

Nothing. As long as it is set up properly, and is detected by the BIOS, you should be fine. If Windows does not see it, you may need to partition and format it.

Make sure you have the HD properly jumpered for Slave or Cable Select operation. The drive will come with an instruction manual showing how to position the jumper.

Also, most drives these days have a little graphic pictogram on the drive itself showing you how the jumpers go.

After that, you need to create and format partition(s) on the HD so Windows can use it. What OS are you running?
