I was just looking for hard drives and came across this after I just got home from work tonight. I just wanted to pass this along, I know there's been better deals, but this is pretty good for no rebates, only $3.49 for 3 day shipping, oh yeah and its OEM.

specs:

300gb
16mb cache
7200RPM
9ms seek time
Sata 150

claimed 5 year warranty on the site

Any one know if these are any good? I've heard of maxtor's inconsistent qc's, and how some batches were terrible and died out, while others were rock solid.

I don't know whether its that hot or not but i noticed it came with a 5 year warranty. I didn't know maxtors had 5 year warranty on any of their drives..unless this is a misprint. Maxtor's aren't my favorite but i do like they. THey would be behind hitachi and tied with seagate. Anyone know if this has ncq?

exactly, that's why I put "simmering warm", they aren't blazing, but it is a decent deal.

I think the MaxlineIII come with a 5 year warranty, while the DiamondMax10 come with a 3 year warranty.

Thanks OP. I think this is a very sweet deal for a great server drive. I have 2 already and I'm going to buy 4 more. It's worth a little extra for no rebates, a long warrantyu, and a state of the art drive.

i wouldn't do it, every maxtor i had died in less than a year, big deal about the waranty the info on the drive is lost forever, i got the same thing but in Western Digital for around $125 on newegg a while ago. You're better off waiting.

Fry's had 300GB Maxline III's (SATA) for $90 a few weeks back. That was a sweet deal. No rebates or anything. Mine is working fine so far.

With only one rebate from Bestbuy. Bestbuy rebates you always get it back, if you fill out properly & send it with all their requirements.
