It was the first time I've heard this song before, on the radio today, yet the riff seems familiar. Yes, I know the song is a cover of a Simon & Garfunkel song (which I heard for the first time after looking it up when I returned home)

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of another well-known track with a very similar riff?

The 80's station that I loved played that song a lot. It was The Peak out of Denver. Now it's a god damn Mexican radio station which really pisses me off because I loved that station! One of the DJs was non other than Nina Blackwood. A former MTV VJ.

I can't think of any riffs similar to that song. Best thing you could do is create a Hazy Shade of Winter station at Pandora and see what pops up. Probably just be 80's music.
