Sim racing

Hey guys-
I'm pretty new here but really like racings sims (a photo of my setup in my sig :biggrin🙂

I've been playing GRID and DiRT 2 lately and wondering what other games you guys recommend?

I was always a fan of NFS on xbox and which ones do you recommend on PC?

Need For Speed: Shift is supposed to be good. I downloaded the demo but I haven't installed it yet to see for myself.

If you're looking for a hard core sim, check out GTR2.

NFS: Shift was indeed a lot of fun, but not really a sim.

Along those lines, Test Drive: Unlimited is a bit old, but the open-world driving (you can go anywhere) and the solid car selection make it a classic for me. Again, not really a sim, though (nothing's perfect :} ).

If you want a sim, you should be looking at the games the others mentioned (although I haven't played LFS in years, it was enjoyable back them), particularly GTR2, or more recently GTR: Evolution.

Race On is is what I am playing now, and it's very fun. GTR2 was good to but I decided not to play it because the engine sounds were terrible, at least in the demo.

There's also a new game called Superstars V8 Racing, It probably more along the lines of SHift so not a hardcore sim, but I never played it.

I've found that the sounds in general in the GT* series (GTL/GTR) have been fantastic. Not sure what's up with that 😵

Those mentioned in OP aren't really *sim* racing games.

iRacing is currently the most popular, but I personally don't like monthly subscriptions and they charge extra for additional cars/tracks, looks like money extortion unless you have a lot of time to play...

Others to try are ISI engine based ones (Race 07, GTR2, GTL, rFactor), netKar and the already mentioned LFS whose development has been rather slow in the last 1-2 years, but LFS is still the only sim game I play from time to time.
