You guys need to stop with the "everybody is a liar mentality"

Sim City is online. All you have to do is go look at all the many many cities and regions to see that many people have been playing. And playing a lot. The leaderboards were all filled up with cities with huge populations and accomplishments. I have 3 Cities now one with 250k people.

A LOT of people are actually playing and having fun. If anything it's the pirates and anti DRM people who see an oportunity don't even own the game who are doing a lot of complaining and lying. They do it with every single game.

Yeah we know the servers couldn't handle the load and a lot of people are actually having trouble. But when people say they are getting on and have proof, and are posting screenshots to share their city, or asking advise on how best to play, then take it for fact that a lot actually are playing too and enjoying the game.

I played 12 hours yesterday. The game is a great game. That's my opinion yes. It's also the opinion of all the game websites before they had to play on the servers. So it IS a good game. Just it's having trouble with the huge load of players and the surprise it was on how many wanted it.

It is fun watching all the nerd rage going on though. Every site I go to it's pretty much the same people posting over and over the same rehashed info and BS, most of which was just made up by some other person posting there. There are millions of people that own this game and are playing, I'm sure people are having connection problems, but it looks like most of the crying is just using the connection issues as a vehicle to bitch about DRM and the game not being exactly the same as SC4.

Just look at similar releases for games like Civ 5 and Diablo 3. Millions of people are enjoying the games, while an irritating vocal few bash the games non-stop, give it 1 star on amazon and act as if the world is out to get them because a videogame isn't exactly how they want it.

Civ 5 was absolutely shit on, and it wasn't because of the DRM. It was because it was a 1st graders intro to Civ game basically. It was a cartoon, not a historical simulation.

And yes, it's just a few people that are causing this game to be the worst rated product ever on Amazon.

I was actually able to play most of the day on Wednesday (had a snow day from work) but granted many other people had to work as well during the time I was playing. When I've tried to launch the game at any time other than early in the morning before I go to work, I usually end up playing or doing something else because the servers are always down.

And everyone on the EA forums is still saying unable to connect... No "wait times" or anything, just unable to even start the game. The forum is blowing up with posts about it.

Us "3-4 same people" are simply stating that the game is playable in long spurts, it's not 100% down like everyone is trying to make it out to be. Half of you don't even own the game, you're just in here for entertainment.

I like how the few of us are either lying or exaggerating but there's no possible way a bunch of children on the EA forums are all telling the 100% truth. Right?

Amazon isn't selling the game anymore. On account of the massive downtime on EA servers. They even issued a statement on it. So Amazon is in on it with the few of us who are bashing this pristine, fully polished game?

Again.... The vast majority of people have been able to connect once or twice. This same huge group of 'non EA paid employees" have gotten maybe a few hours of gametime.


Then you have this select few who are "able to connect for 12 hours at a time" all while VERY clearly praising the all mighty EA, and these same exact people are making such a HUGE deal about how this is all totally normal, just be patient, it's a FANTASTIC game just give it a few days.




There is no way that a regular sim city customer is going to go to that EXTREME level of lying and excuses unless they are 100% troll or being paid by EA.



And I flat out do not believe that someone connected for 12 hours yesterday. No way.

Today has been the same as every other day since launch. I tried for an hour to connect to each server, no luck at all. EXACT same "simcity servers are down" crap.

Make no mistake about it, this online requirement was about DRM and not about the gaming experience. If the goal was simply to trade with other cities and deal with commodity pricing with everybody else playing the game, that interface could have been handled by web servers. Reliable, easily scalable technology. Data files could easily be uploaded and downloaded containing the information needed to do that. Reliable technology that can be done as lazy updates. If it connects it updates, if not it tries again later. No need for persistent connections that cause this kind of massive failure.

Go spend 5 minutes on the EA forums. If you don't see what's going on then you are either totally incapable of comprehending what is a "normal" forum conversation or are yet another EA shill.

I can connect pretty easily at 0300 EST. Since I've been staying up until about 0400 this week I've been playing about an hour each day from 0300-0400.

Once I go back to a regular schedule next week I won't be able to play as I haven't been able to connect during the day.
