Who here is into PC sim car racing? I'm considering getting back into it.

What car racing hardware do you own, and what racing sims do you use? (I'm doing my research now on what wheel/wheelbase, and pedals I want)

Back in the day I had Grand Prix Legends (GPL) which was awesome. I'm looking at iRacing and Assetto Corsa . I like as close to a sim as possible... not big on arcade titles.

When I played Assetto Corsa I was using a Logitech G27 setup and it was pretty slick. The shifter was a little hokey but it worked pretty well. Also had triple screens so interior views were quite realistic.

FWIW this type of hardware is in high demand right now, possibly because lots of people are still home, so I'd wait on it personally.

iRacing is pretty big these days, but it requires a subscription, which is kind of offputting.

I have a Logitech G25 with an obutto r3volution cockpit with a couple of butt shakers partnered with some Sim racing software to make me feel the road and VR. I also have a couple of boards that allow me to use a real tach and shift light plus gear indicator.

The jump up in prices going from entry level/wheels/pedals to what is often called 'mid-range' is HUGE. Damn.

It seems the top sims according to reviews are, *Raceroom Racing Experience, *Project Cars2, *Assetto Corsa, and *iRacing.

Yea like anything else you gotta determine how bad you want it. I had a pretty basic set up but even that was kind of a pain in the rear to set up at my desk with all the wires. Was certainly fun to use though.

If you got the space, definitely piece together a dedicated rig and spend a bit on some of the bells and whistles. Sky's the limit, but like usual getting there requires the stacks.

I have a G29 wheel. Pcars2 and Assetto Corsa all flavors. I didn't get the racing seat but when they have good VR goggles. That would be the next step. The serious racers are European and Australian. They have the real high end gear. I like to play with them simply to spin them out. I always get kicked but that is proper racing in my book.

In our relatively small computer room are 2 computer desks and PC's, book cases, small table w/ printer, and assorted other crap. I have no room for a dedicated wheelbase rig, unfortunately.

That means mounting it to the desk, and then putting it away each time I use it. PITA. Almost seemed just now like I was trying to talk myself out of doing this.......
