Ive recently come into possession of a silver plated butler's tray from the late 1930s. Ive detarnished it, then applied silver polish. It took about two hours, and could have easily taken several more. The designs are very intricate. Prior to this piece, Ive never owned any silverware.
I found this same piece online for sale for about $550 (same make and model stamped on back). A 92.5 percent sterling tray would run about $2500+ in metal content alone (7.5 lbs of silver). Its roughly 21 x 16 and heavier than it looks.
I didnt pay anything for it and had thought about selling it for around $80, but it looks so nice all polished up now, I might just keep it.![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Do you own any pieces?
