Silverstone TJ09 vs. Coolermaster 840

Ignoring pricing, what advantages does the TJ09 have over the 840? They both look VERY similar to me. I see the 840 has a pull out tray for the mobo and components which might be kinda nice, but does it work well in practice? How does the toolless installation of 3.5/5.25 drives compare on these two cases?

While I do overclock, I don't go crazy with screaming fans or watercooling or anything. I aim for moderate stable overclocks with QUIET components. I use speedfan to regulate a 120mm on the Tuniq tower and keep it under 1500 rpm all the time and the 120mm system fans sit around 1000rpm, so the only thing you ever here in the system is the GPU which doesn't matter since I have headphones anyway.

I have an Antec P180 right now and I absolutely hate it. The completely isolated lower PSU chamber makes cable routing a massive pain. For as large as the case is, there's hardly any room. The HDD cages face toward the board instead of out toward you which makes moving them around more difficult. If you use a card any bigger than a 8800GT you can't use one of the slots in the upper drive cage. The lower drive cage is just plain difficult to get to even though it is "quickly removable."

How about this... if you own either case list every single little nit picky thing that pisses you off about it.

The lower half on the front that covers the air intake? So you can't access the filter easily or what? By the way, is the filter for the PSU vent actually accessible when you have a PSU installed?

I recently moved from a TJ09 to an ATCS 840. The ATCS is MUCH larger. I had modded the TJ09 (poorly) for a triple rad at the top. The ATCS is air cooled. Overall I think the TJ09 uses better material; the metal is thicker. The ATCS has some really nice features:
- Size (this might be a negative if you don't have a lot of room).
- The motherboard tray rides on ball bearings.
- Built in cable management holes.
- Access to the back side of the motherboard.
- Tool-less drive mounting which works fine.
- More front panel USB ports.
- 230mm fans move a lot of air quietly.
- Room between the frame and right panel for hiding cables (The TJ09 fit was very tight and the side panel bulged with cables behind it)

The TJ09 hard drive mounting was a PITA. The center fan didn't seem to help with temps and injected a lot of dust into the case. Build quality was great.

An interesting aside on the ATCS - The top 2 fans are set up as exhaust. I was able to lower load temps 10C+ by flipping the front top fan to be an intake. I thing the airflow was short circuiting with both as exhaust.

Is installing the rear expansion slot exhaust module worth it? It seems like having that on could create negative airflow at the GPU intake and raise temps.

I haven't tried it. Any reviews I found that tried it indicated that it made no difference.
