I bought this PSU about 2 years ago, for my new build, that has been delayed and delayed and delayed. i've literally never turned this PSU on.

Finally with core i7 out and Christmas bonus $$$ coming soon, i've decided to finish my system.

I believe i'm going to go with: i7 920, 6gb triple channel kit, 2x1tb (raid 1 - fiance does pro photog), 300gb raptor, dvdr, bdr, and possibly 2 video cards, i haven't decided yet.

i just wanted to make sure this PSU can handle the specs... i'm fairly certain it can, but between 50 hour work weeks and planning a wedding, i haven't had much time to look lately.

thanks
nathan

I wouldn't try to run 2 GTX 280 on it either.

dual GTX 260 or HD 4870 would be the max I would even attempt to run

thanks a lot... i'm pretty sure i'll stick to one card, maybe a 4870x2 or something.

the video card is really the only thing i have to hide the price of from the fiance, haha.

glad to hear this PSU will still hold up... found the receipt for it today, bought it august 2006 for $179. the same store sells the same model now for $129. hah.

the model currently sold as the st60f is officially version 5. despite the same name, it is a completely different ps, likely from a different manufacturer.

the version you and i have is 180mm deep, 70ish% effeciency and has a lousy 120mm fan (the polarity is reversed on the 2 pin connector, btw) and poor airflow. the new version is 160mm, 80+ bronze certified, and has a 135mm fan. iirc, both supplies are rated for 48A @ 12V. i don't know if the 135mm fan is quieter than the original's 120mm.
