Silverstone SFF SG03

It's an awesome little case. The design quality is top notch. Next to it's big brother the TJ-09 it looks awesome, a little mini-me if you will. The innovation to get the harddrives in, floppy drives, the configuration is awesome. The board I used had some awkwardly placed connectors ie. ide and cpu power, but it looks great when it's the finished product. It will seem cramped inside, but it's such a tiny case for the purpose of being small you can't really complain. I meant to put the stock cooler from my Xeon E3110 that I just got onto my E2140 to give some more clearance between the PSU and the CPU cooler but I forgot because I was excited to just put it together. I will post pictures tomorrow, my gf took my camera =( But it's a really nice little case anyone looking to build a small form factor should really consider it if you're not on to tight of a budget seeing as I paid 150 for it after taxes and stuff today.

For sure I'll have a one or two next to my TJ-09(it has a broken window =( need to buy a new side panel) and some of the insides, I might throw a 9600 GT in there just so you guys can get an idea of how small inside it really is hehe 😛 be a good time to to switch coolers. It's absolutely quiet though. I can't hear it over my GTX and Monsoon Vigor II in my tj-09.

I love my SG03. The biggest gripe I have with it is its lack of a rear 120mm fan but other than that its pretty nice case. Not perfect but very good. It runs cool and quiet. The case actually fits inside a standard gym locker. I know because thats where I keep it at work.

Build:

SG03 Case 2 - 120mm Scythe S-Flex SFF21F Case Fans, Corsair HX520w PSU, Intel E6750 CPU, ASUS P5K-VM, 2GB Crucial Ballistix RAM BL2KIT12864AA604, NT06-Lite, eVGA 8800GT KO, Lite-On LH20A1H, Seagate 7200.11 500Gb, X-Fi XtremeGamer, XP Pro SP2, Logitech G5, Saitek Eclipse II

I have the stock silverstone in the front, I'm thinking of putting a Scythe 120mm up front with it, I'm running an e2140 in an Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD(got it free) same ram as you, using the stock cooler, LG 20x DVD-RW, no video card and just some old 160gb PATA 133 hdd I had laying around. I'm thinking of buying a 3850 for it and once I see a good deal on a 1tb harddrive that's what I'm putting in next. I purchase just a cheap 39.99 logitech wireless setup for it so i can use it from across the desk I have. I still haven't got my camera back from my girlfriend yet =( So no pictures but it is one NICE looking little case.

The Scythe fans are nice. I was worried that with the SG03 not having a rear fan I would have cooling problems so I went with the F model for the better cooling. Most people get the E model. Its more quiet but moves less air. I knew I wasnt going to be using the PC in a quiet area for the most part so I wasnt too worried about noise although my research around the Net said the F model wasnt that bad really as far as noise goes. Plus I figured if it was too loud I could just swap out the fans for something less noisey. Well, I can tell you in a quiet room the F models are pretty quiet. I'm pretty happy with them.

I kept the original 120mm case fan in case I wanted to mod it under my NT06 like some people have done for better cpu cooling. I havent needed to do that though. I'm sure at some point I'll find a use for it so I'm hanging onto it. Maybe if I decide to OC the cpu I'll mod it under the NT06.

I would suggest to anyone that wants a SG03 to go ahead and get an additional 120mm fan and run two up front. It will certainly help with cooling. Silverstone really should give two 120mm fans with the case instead of one. They arent that expensive.

I just got two Noctua 120mm NF-P12's in might throw them up front. How do you like you're cooler? Is it passive or do you have a fan on it?

No fan on it. Temps are fine as is so no real need to mod a fan to it. A lot of folks that go with the Q6600 and a SG03 are using a fan from what I have read and heard though. So far I'm liking the NT06 but I'm not doing any OCing with the rig as of yet and probably wont considering what its being used for. *If* you do plan to mount a fan on a NT06 inside a SG03 you'll need to do it before installing it inside the SG03. Once the NT06 is inside the SG03 you wont have room to do the work. So mount the fan prior to installing on the mobo and placing it inside the SG03.

Btw, for you modders out there there is room to cut a blow hole on the top portion of the SG03 near the back end and mounting a 120mm fan underneath inside to blow rising warm out. If I was to buy another SG03 this is what I would do. For those that cant do the mod you could go to someone like PerformancePCs.com and buy the case from them and request they do it. Obviously you'd pay more but worth it.

Edit2: I hear people using the Geminll heatsink in place of the NT06-Lite in the SG03 lately. Supposed to be pretty good. Snug fit but does fit.
