Silverstone FT04 reviews - what's taking so long?

The SilverStone Fortress FT04 has been available on Newegg and Amazon for about a month, but there have not yet been any reviews on Anandtech or any other English-speaking website. I've seen a few reviews in foreign languages from obscure overseas sites, but what is taking so long for U.S. reviewers? The Raven RV04 review said "Wait for the FT04"... we're still waiting, and for no good reason. The case is out there! Why are all the sites just ignoring it?

I gave up waiting about 6 weeks ago and bought an FT02. Haven't regretted it - it's an awesome case.

Just saw it. Kudos to Dustin Sklavos for posting the first in-depth review of the FT04 in English.

As an FT02B-W owner for the last 2 years, it is definitely an awesome case. The Temjin TJ11 now has my attention for the next build, though. >_>

I love the inverted idea, but the only cases I've seen using it are quite pricey (like the Silverstone) or have the HP (incl Compaq) logo on them.

I have no idea why so few manufacturers are taking this idea on.

mostly because of how the PC will be setup.
Inverted board means the case opens on the right side.

Also its a reminent of the failed BTX design..
I think thats why most vendors avoided it.

I had a couple failed BTX boards and their cases in my storage building. Finally got myself to throw them out last year. Pretty good idea, but ATX was too much implanted. That standard is how old now?

It wasn't just to implanted. It was pushed out as part of a complete overhaul of the "PC" by Intel in an attempt during the P4 launch to get highend computing to use parts that would take AMD a year or two to catchup on. The hope would be that the OEM's would be quick to adopt Rambus, BTX, and a couple other things and have to use AMD's stuff only on the low end boxes for a long while. BTX died because it was such a big part of the worst platform launch ever. Not only that but GPU companies complained that BTX over focused on better CPU cooling and drastically affected their coolers ability to get cool air.

I agree with your post, but this part is pretty silly (on their part). The GPU would be getting the air that had already been pushed across the CPU (translation "warm"), unless a case manufacturer designed a case that implemented a way to get air directly to it. The vast majority of PCs going out would not have a dedicated GPU, so this was more like them (GPU manufacturers) adding fuel to the fire because they didn't like it, not because it actually mattered.

Anyway, ready the Silverstone review yesterday. A little disappointed with the results, but I bet some extra time to play with fans/positions would give some better numbers.

seems like they are going backwards in terms of perfomance/noise. i was intending to get a ft02 but willing to look at newer designs. but now it seems like the ft02 is still the top dog.
