Hey All,

I have a couple of questions concerning this "creation"

1)Has anyone tried it??? results??
2)Would 1 radial fan be more/less effective than a "quiet" 60mm fan??
3)What type of radial fan does the Silverado use?? (part #)

I am thinking of mounting at least 1 (probably 2) radial blowers to see what type of effect I get...I think some brackets from Home Depot might do the trick..(researching the mechanicals this week)

I am not a hardcore overclocker in the fact that I dont want the hugest heatsing with some screaming 60mm Delta fan. I want the best noise/performance ratio I can get....

thx

I believe the Silverado uses a "squirrel-cage" type blower which is similar to what is in your car's A/C & heater fan except it is much smaller. I think that is what you mean when you say "radial" fan.

Here in the states you can try the Radio Shack Nidec Gamma 28 blower but it is a bit small. I think there is a larger Gamma blower or you can use two Gammas. I don't know if it would be quieter because there would be quite a bit of turbulence. It is worth a try though. Also, http://www.comairrotron.com/ has some good DC blowers.

Havoc,
I was not sure of the formal name..(still not), but Radial, blower, squirrel cage....all the same...I think my radio shack had some of the Nidec 28's on clearance...Will check at lunch...

<<
Before: alpha PAL + 60 mm 23 CFM Sunon
-case 28C/ CPU 51C under 100% load
After with Taisol + 80 mm SUnon (29 CFM and 24.5 dBA)
-case 28C/ CPU 50C under 100% load

Twin Gamma 28 Setup
28C case / 50C CPU

So the gammas are about the same as a quiet 80 mm fan and the CPU runs 2-3 C cooler than with the stock 60 mm Delta.

Thx for the links Gizzo...Saved me a lunch trip to Radio Shack...

I guess that my best solution is the 60->80 adapter...
Right now I jsut have the stock Taisol/Fan
Going to an 80mm fan L1A should at least get me to the 60mm screaming delta levels at much less noise than I have now.

thx all for the help...
