just fyi, this is the controller that has the "improved" dpad. unfortunately (or fortunately), you can only buy this with the play and charge kit. i have this controller and the colors look very nice (i love the button color scheme they used, and the matte silver finish). if you use the dpad constantly like i do, then this controller is a must. however, if you play games in tournaments, you can get away with using this controller, but you're better off with a fight stick.

How is the dpad different? From looking at the picture, the pad seems more convex with the 4 directions being more pronounced. Description also says the bumper buttons are improved. Thoughts on this?

dunno about the bumpers but the dpad you can adjust it. Go on you tube and you will see what I mean.
