They are GUILTY, of being morons and guilty of selling a misrepresented product. Compusa doesn't know what they are selling, The Package states "Made with 99% pure micronized silver, 85% to 90% silver content by weight". Compusa's website states Silver Thermal Grease, 2-pack, Manufacturer FMI, Mfg Part # EQ40096J, Product Number 288619. "Made with 97% Pure Micronized Silver, 75%-80% Silver content by weight".

Well if they are (falsely) representing its assay then, yes they are guilty. Of course they will blatenly ignore any correspondence unless it's from an attorney. All they will do is discontinue carrying said product.

The best thing one can do is spread the word and don't buy this garbage.

Cheers!

Maybe that is the best that most people would do, but I am seeing this from start to finish. ;)

Do you have any proof of this false statement? Wimp out on the complaint and you loose. I am glad to see someone that does not give up easy.
I am in Omaha for a while and I printed out a copy of the post relating to the test and spoke to the magager and I got a good response, you see these companies rely on word of mouth advertising more than anything else and reputation is everything. The first rule of business is that it is cheaper to keep a customer that they already have than to get a new one.

I don't understand how anyone can trust OCZ or why one would do business with them.

For those unfamiliar with their history:

OCZ Memory: Are they able to regain consumer trust?
UPDATE on 'OCZ EXPOSED' story: "OCZ Technology Responds To Outlandish Internet Claims"

This is a company built on dishonesty and bad quality control. Even if you give them the benefit of the doubt in this situation about not knowing (which I personally doubt), they should have known. It is their responsibility to quality control their own product. Any decent non-manufacturing company takes random samples of each batch and tests it. OCZ should be testing the thermal conductivity of a few samples in every batch which they should be able to do cheaply themselves. I'm not sure how much it costs to do the lab work done here, but they could do that for a few samples in every batch if that isn't too expensive, but thermal conductivity is what matters for thermal paste and that isn't hard to test. If they had done this the ones without silver would have shown up and they could have sent it to a lab and then found it had no silver.

As to their solution, replace non-empty tubes. Great solution for a product that gets used up. The T-shirt is a nice bonus for those that like OCZ, but it's a free give-away item to begin with and it advertises the company. And a coupon, to buy more of their junk. They should take the receipt from anyone who bought the product since they last had it tested and offer to refund their money.

I can't count the number of threads on these forums where OCZ products do not perform at specification. Why does this surprise anyone?

Sorry if this post is a little bit of a rant, but I can't believe why anyone would applaud OCZ for their response.

Just a FYI,

Larry Mondry, Chief Executive Officer of COMPUSA was sent a Notarized copy of my findings and it was sent to HIM directly via Certified Express mail this Afternoon.

Things will get interesting soon.

" they simply could have pushed it under the rug"

Oh yeah, that would have worked beautifully.

They reacted the ONLY way they could have. I don't care, I am a pretty dedicated Arctic Silver user but to absolve them because they are giving away T-shirts and using their competitor to outsource is a friggin joke.

A thought crossed my mind... who really wants to wear an OCZ shirt? It's a rhetorical question, no reply is necessary. It's just that I am personally not interested in advertising for them. And the fact that they do not have a tighter QC program does not leave me with a warm-fuzzy feeling about their products. QC'ing thermal compound wouldn't exactly require them to lease a lab from NASA.
