i just got a silver stone LC03V . my mobo is newer so it doesn't have a parallel port. i bought an adapter to convert the plug to usb . i've checked the connections over and over and i still get nothing on the display. has anyone else tried to connect a vfd the way i'm doing it?i'm running windows xp and smartie

Does it at least have a parallel header? most motherboards will at least have that. My vfd uses parallel port as well through a connector through the pci slot. What I did was to just bypass the external connections and used a floppy cable with the wires rearranged to connect it directly to the parallel header on the motherboard. Otherwise, you can buy a header to port pci bracket for pretty cheap if you search a little. I, however, prefer to avoid external workarounds if possible. If you want more info, let me know.

I checked up on your case and it does go through the pci slot like my case does. So you should be able to use the same solution I used. If you don't want to spend an hour or two working on a floppy or pata cable, you can buy this bracket, but that will block another slot for a total of two. Therefore, I prefer my solution to keep everything inside of the case and keep the slots free.
