I got a silver graph link for my TI 83+ this weekend. and it doesn't seem to work in windows xp and the software seems to still be designed around the serial cable version. Any ideas?

I'm not quite sure what you are asking, what exactly is the problem? ("doesn't seem to work" isn't too descriptive)

I assume the silver graph link is the USB version?

do you have the latest version of the TI-Graph Link software? Download it here
Also try the TI Connect Software

do you know that your USB ports work? have you ever used any other USB devices with your machine?

have you restarted afte rinstalling the TI Connect software? (I just installed it and forgot to restart, it caused problems)

is the TI DeviceExplorer able to "see" or even detect your calculator?
if so are you able to get a screen image of your calculator?

Which usb port are you plugging this into. Sometimes devices require a little more power to work and this may be the case with your calculator. Try plugging directly into the usb ports on the motherboard if you are not already. If that doesn't work, something else is up I don't have an answer for.
